Shocked, amazed, and about time are thoughts that come to mind when I found out that one of the TOP modeling agencies in the world launched a division for Plus Size Male Models! The Brawn Division was created so that more men could feel like they were reflected in what they see in fashion campaigns and magazines. The first model signed so far is Zach Miko, which many followers of the big and tall/plus size male fashion scene may remember him from the Target website in 2015 where he gained national recognition for actually looking like a Big Tall Male Model standing at 6’6 with a 40 inch waist (and not some Ex NFL Player, which most Big and Tall Retailers select as models).
“Brawn has a body positive message. Brawn is physical strength,” Ivan Bart, president at IMG Models, told WWD. “The body positive messaging and size diversity is something that’s relevant and something that continues to be on everybody’s mind. We have to extend the conversation for men.”
I’m loving this big news as it goes to show that the Plus Male Fashion revolution is coming, and with Zach Miko being one of the first Plus Size/Big and Tall Male Models to be signed to a major modeling agency bigger things are on the horizon!
